Name Change

Sorry to spring this on many of you, but it was something we had been pondering for a while.  In case you don’t read Jon’s blog or haven’t yet, here is what Jon had to say about it on his blog.
Simeon Creed Anderson was born yesterday (May 22nd) at 12:34 pm, weighing in at 7 pounds, 5 ounces and measuring 19 inches long.  We are calling him Creed.  Many of you know the difficulties of the last year with the loss of Knox.  Our rejoicing is great but bittersweet as we wish Knox were here to meet his little brother.  However, with Simeon of old (see Luke 2), we await the coming of the Messiah who will bring the completion of consolation when He consummates His kingdom.

I like the name Creed because a creed is a statement of faith, of belief and this child is a living statement of what we believe about God, our Lord Jesus, life and death, resurrection, children, and so much more.  He is a statement of our hope, that children are a blessing even in this fallen world where they suffer and hurt.  Yet, they can also experience the foretaste of what is to come:  love, joy, community, worship, etc.  That Creed will one day join his older brother Knox as they kneel before King Jesus and sing praises to the Lamb who was slain.  Creed will be a reminder to me that the best is yet to come.  Thank you Lord for the sign of this child.  May he grow to be one who lives for Your glory and for Your kingdom.
